Welcome, Friday’s Craft and Chat. I am so glad you have joined me. I am just recovering from holiday activities. It took me a few days to get back to normal. I realize the older I get it takes longer to recover from the holidays. I am the type of lady on New Year’s day; I take all my decorations down, and sometimes I even start shopping for next year’s gifts. Not this year, I did not get my decorations down until yesterday. I was overspending, so no shopping for me either. I would blame it on Covid, but it was just I was worn out. I wonder how much we blame Covid when things go wrong. I lost my keys, must be Covid, I have no money, must be Covid. Who or what will we blame when Covid is gone?
On a serious note, Covid is on everyone’s mind. Covid has affected our lives. Whether it is wearing masks, not going shopping, someone we know who has been sick with it, or someone we know has died. I am not sure if we will ever be able to erase the effects it has had. Now we have to decide if we should take or not take the coronavirus vaccine. I have my doubts about taking the vaccine. These doubts have nothing to do with science and more to do with what we do not know about the virus itself. I am in a wait and see mode. One thing I know I will not be first in line.
I have chated enough, so let me grab a cup of coffee and go to the craft room and make a card. I will meet you there in a few.

Crafting Steps

I decided today we will make a valentine’s card. With Valentine’s coming soon, I thought today would be a good day to make Valentine’s card. We’re going to start with a piece of red card stock that measures 5 1/2′ by 8 1/2′.

panel for the front

We’re going to score the red card stock at 2 1/8′ by 6 3/8′. This will give us a front gate fold card

.

We’re going to make our own designer paper. We are going to take a piece of white card stock that is 6′ by 6′. We are making our designer paper using the second generation stamping technique, a red ink pad, and a heart stamp.

Cut the designer paper in 3′ by 5 1/2′ stripes. We will be decorating the front with them. On the side facing the opening, take a heart border punch and punch a border.

Glue the panels onto the front of the card.

The last thing I did was to die cut a heart out. After cutting on the heart, attached it to a piece of paper. Then add it to the left side panel.

Word of the Day

The word of today is respect. This week I saw a lack of respect for people, property, and democracy. What caused such hate and evil to take place. Americans, we are better and wiser than this. If we do not respect ourselves, how can anyone else respect us? If we do not show respect for our Capital building and the people we put in office, who do we expect will respect them? We need healing. When I say we, I mean all Americans.

I hope that we will respect each other no matter what we think and believe. I am happy to be with you today, and I hope you join me again. Please be safe. Take time to craft and create.
