Find Time to Craft and Create
Happy New Year to you! I am so excited that I am coming to you live on my new website at www.craftingaftersixty.com. I never thought 138 posts ago, I would have my own website. This website will allow me to do more things than the one I was on. The fact you would all have been with me through this journey has made it all special. I have to think my daughter Valerie for dealing with me when my vision was hard to follow. She made my dream come through. The list of supporters is long, but to everyone who supported me and encouraged; me along the way, thanks. I can’t wait to see what this journey will take us.
My Monday post will be Highlight Monday. On Mondays, we will be practice new skills that are in the craft world. We will review new products as well as old products crafters’ are using. There may not always be a card on Monday. I will continue Craft and Chat on Friday. I am also planning to include videos. The sky is the limit in what we can do on the new website. I hope that you will share things you are interested in as well.
I do not want to keep you long so you can enjoy your New Year, so let us head to the craft room.
I find that I can always use a thank you card. Today we will be making a
thank-you card. One thing I find helpful is to make up a few card bases ahead of time. I also make different size layers to have on hand as well. One of the quickest cards to make is a one layer card. Today we will be making just that.
First, we will start with an A4 card base that measures 4 1/4′ by 5 1/2′. I take an 8 1/2′ by 11′ card stock and score it at 5 1/2′. After scoring the card stock, put it into a trimmer and cut it on 4 1/4′. You will have two card bases.
Now that we have the bases, it is time to work on the background. I find using distress inks make a pretty background. I love to use second generation stamping to make backgrounds too. Second generation stamping is where you ink up your stamp and stamp it onto a scrap piece of paper before you stamp; it onto your base. Wow, that is a mouth full.
Before we color the background, let’s masked a section off where we will put our sentiment. You can mask it off in any direction you like to.
I like to do all my cutting and stamping at one time. I cut out a thank-you sentiment. Then, I stamp, color, and cut the stamp image. Roses are my favorite flower to stamp, so it is my go-to image to do.
It is time to assemble the card. I glue the cut-out sentiment onto space with no color. I also pop up the rose onto the front. This completes the card simple and easy card.
The word of the day is New. This year will be a new beginning for us. Let’s not take it for granted. With all, I went through last year am looking for a better new year. I am here because God wants me here, and that is such a great privilege. I hope to take every opportunity to encourage others, show them who I am, and most of all, love and forgive myself. I am starting with me first so I can love and forgive others. Words of thanks will be on my lips as well as in my heart. Be safe! Please find time to craft and create. See you next time.
